The Treatment of Acute Thrombotic Thrombocytopenic Purpura with Corticosteroids and Splenectomy

Abstract
With this regimen, all 3 patients recovered. One has survived for 5 years without relapse, one for at least 2 1/2 years, and 1 relapsed a year later and died. It is felt that the cure achieved is directly related to the therapeutic regimen, and that this regimen should be considered whenever the diagnosis of thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura is made.
