Abstract
The physiological estrus cycle in mature Albino mice was studied using the alkaline-phosphatase method of Gomori. The maximal phosphatase content of the vaginal epithelium was found in the pro-estrus phase. As a result of the known connection of alkaline phosphatase and estrogens, this led to the conclusion that the maximal estrogenic effect during the cycle is in the pro-estrus phase and that estrus itself is only a consequence of changes initiated earlier. Keywords
