Involvement of central nervous system in Whipple's disease

Abstract
This is the first report of Whipple''s disease causing destruction of the long conduction pathways in the spinal cord and the second report of this condition in a Negro female. The SPC-cell was shown in the demyelinated areas of the fasciculus gracilis and cuneatus as well as within the typical intestinal lesions. Although many theories have been advanced concerning the etiology of this disease, none appears to explain satisfactorily the pathogenetic mechanisms involved. 51 references.
