Rotational Structure of theΣ3Π3Bands of BF

Abstract
The rotational analysis has been made of the (0,0), (0,1), (0,2) and (1,0) bands of the A system of BF. The bands are interpreted in terms of a Σ3Π3 transition with coupling intermediate between case a and case b. The triplet separation of the upper (Σ3) state is too small to be observed; that of the lower (Π3) state is 12.7B. The Λ-type splitting of the Π3 states is less than 0.2 cm1. Other constants evaluated are: B0=1.6235, B1=1.6030, D0=4.2×106, D1=9.7×106, B0=1.4030, B1=1.3851, B2=1.3672, all in cm1 units; Ie=16.93×1040 g cm2, Ie=19.56×1040 g cm2, and re=1.312×108 cm.
