Landau-Coulomb levels in a degenerate band

Abstract

The problem is formulated of the energy levels deriving from the degenerate valence bands of a semiconductor in the presence of an impurity potential and a magnetic field. An approximate solution is found using perturbation theory, the variational principle and the adiabatic approximation.
