Abstract
The (p, pd) reaction with coincidence between the outgoing proton and deuteron is investigated in terms of the momentum distribution function of the two-nucleon system to be knocked out as the deuteron and the probability of finding the deuteron within the nucleus. An interaction length is defined in terms of the probability of finding the deuteron. The Li6(p, pd)He4 and Li7(p, pd)He5 reactions are considered by using single-particle harmonic-oscillator wave functions for the nucleons in the nucleus.
