Spectra of rare gas hydrides

Abstract
The emission of XeH and XeD consists of a number of strong bands in the region 5100-10 000 Å. The strongest band at 9450 Å as well as one other band are of 2Π-2Σ type. In addition two 2Σ-2Σ bands are observed, one of them at 6650 Å has already been reported [2]. All four bands have the same lower 2Σ+ state. The analysis of these bands presented no difficulties. Molecular constants derived from the spectra are reported. For XeH they are very similar to those of the XeH+ ion recently reported by Rogers, Brazier and Bernath [3]. The spin rotation coupling constant γ for the upper 2Σ state of the 5450 Å band is even larger (relative to B) than for KrH and KrD in the npσ 2Σ states. No hot bands have been observed.
