Abstract

Studies indicate that the rate of parasite development within the host is dependent upon the mode of attack. Evidence of multiple and simple parasitism with competition between individuals has been observed in the laboratory. Adult parasites emerge through a roughly circular opening chewed in the host''s prepupal skin. The rate of activity during emergence is infuenced by temperature. Mating is accomplished from a male sternum to female dorsum position after the female has been quieted.
