Predissociation effects in the B 3Π0+u state of iodine

Abstract
The existing data on the magnetic and natural predissociations of the B 3Π0+u state of molecular iodine are briefly discussed. In order to explain some recent experiments the possibility that these two predissociations are due to one single electronic state is studied theoretically. This hypothesis leads to the existence of an interference effect between the two predissociations. The experimental results are shown to be in good agreement with this theory, and the values of some predissociation parameters are deduced. Some experiments are suggested in order to explain a few discrepancies existing between our values and those of previous authors.
