Melting-Curve Extrema from a Repulsive "Step" Potential

Abstract
Molecular dynamics calculations in two dimensions for particles interacting with a repulsive "step" potential show melting-curve maxima and minima as well as solid-solid phase transitions. These features are similar to those observed in the phase diagram of cesium and cerium.Keywords
