Use of Dried Whole Blood Collected on Filter Paper Disks in Adenovirus Complement Fixation and Measles Hemagglutination Inhibition Tests

Abstract

A method for utilizing blood collected by hemolet puncture on filter paper disks and dried before storage was shown to be feasible in routine complement fixation tests for adenoviruses and hemagglutination inhibition tests for measles. Laboratory tests were performed using antigens from commercial sources. The technique appears to be usable in other complement fixation and hemagglutination in hibition systems and greatly facilitates collection of blood specimens, especially from small infants.
