Effects of Proteins on Body and Organ Weights in Thyroid-Fed Rats

Abstract

Several proteins were compared to defatted liver residue in their effects on body and organ wts. of thyroid fed rats. Beef muscle was the only protein tested which resembled defatted liver residue in all the anti-thyroid effects measured. Some proteins maintained body wt. but did not affect organ wts. Other proteins affected organ wts. but did not maintain body wt. in thyroid-fed rats.
