THE OCCURRENCE OF MONO- AND DI-IODOTYROSINE IN THE BLOOD OF A PATIENT WITH CONGENITAL GOITER*

Abstract
A 27-year-old male with congenital goiter is described. Mono- and diiodotyrosine were found in the peripheral blood a few minutes after administration of radioactive iodine. The goiter, which showed intense hyperplasia, was thought to represent compensatory overactivity resulting from continuous and abnormal loss of hormone precursors from the gland.
