The metabolism of developing salmon eggs

Abstract

The wet weight of salmon eggs increases gradually until a short time before hatching and then rather rapidly due to the membrane becoming thin and loose, permitting an increased water content. In the case of the larva, the wet weight first increases and then decreases. The dry weight drops rapidly after hatching.
