Pressure dependences of the elastic shear modulus and the lattice instability inV3Si

Abstract
The effects of a hydrostatic pressure on the shear modulus Cs and the structural transition temperature Tm of V3Si are studied on the basis of the Weger-Labbé-Friedel model with currently known parameters. Taking into account the charge transfer between s and d bands, our results can quantitatively account for the recent observations of Carcia and Barsch on CsP and Chu and Testardi on Tm.
