Systematics of fission fragment total kinetic energy release

Abstract
Recent data for the most probable total kinetic energy release in fission EK, have been combined with earlier results in order to reevaluate the systematic dependence of these values on the Coulomb parameter Z2A13. A least-squares analysis of the current data base yields EK=0.1189Z2A13+7.3 MeV, where Z2A13 refers to the fissioning nucleus. This expression exhibits a somewhat steeper slope than previous fits.
