Abstract
The piezoelectric method devised by Balamuth for measuring Young's modulus of a cubic crystal for any chosen direction has been extended to permit the measurement of all the elastic moduli of any solid crystal at temperatures below 0°C. Data are given which show the variation of the adiabatic and isothermal elastic moduli and elastic constants of rocksalt with temperature between 80°K and 270°K.Keywords
