Abstract
Calculations and measurements on thin Permalloy bubble circuit elements show effects arising from finite material permeability. A new method is used to directly calculate the magnetization profile in a thin isolated I bar, in quantitative comparison with recent measurements and with a previously reported indirect calculation. The scale factor used in the indirect calculation is found to be about 8% high for the limiting case of infinite susceptibility, with poorer agreement for lower values. New measurements are reported for sparse arrays of I bars using a large‐area magneto‐optic probe and are compared with SFS and other calculations. Keywords
