Abstract
Lateral buds at different positions along the shoot differed in their sprouting ability. Buds lower on the branch were more inhibited. This phenomenon was found in 3 rose [Rosa hybrida] cultivars, but the degree of inhibition varied from cultivar to cultivar. The inhibition gradient was not related to the number of leaves remaining on the branch, to the age of the bud or to the length of the stem segment above the bud. This publication has 2 references indexed in Scilit:
