Abstract
The effect of the specific metabolic principle on the O2 consumption of guinea pigs and rats is reported. The previously reported observations on rabbits are confirmed. Evidence is presented that the effect is not mediated through the pituitary, thyroid or adrenals. The rise in the O2 consumption is associated with a fall in the R. Q. (guinea pigs). Precautions to be taken in assay of the specific metabolic principle by measurement of O2 consumption are pointed out. A rabbit unit is suggested. This publication has 3 references indexed in Scilit:
