Abstract
An electron microscopic study is reported for oleate-treated Mycobacterium avium (Takeo strain). The particular electron transparent areas (ETA) develop in the cells treated with 10-3 [image]oleate, but no significant morphological changes are found at 10-5 [image], at which concentration the cells are killed. The nature of ETA and their significance for the bactericidal action of oleate are discussed. Keywords
