Electron binding energy effects in Compton scattering from graphite

Abstract
Spectral analyses of x-radiation scattered by graphite show that Compton scattering by K-shell electrons cannot take place unless the energy transferred to the electron in the scattering process exceeds its binding energy. Multiple Compton scattering is also observed.Keywords
