Nuclear Magnetic Moment Ratio and Linewidths ofN14andN15

Abstract

The ratio of the nuclear magnetic moment of ${\mathrm{N}}^{14}$ to that of ${\mathrm{N}}^{15}$ in liquid nitrogen has been measured using the technique of nuclear magnetic resonance. The value obtained is $\frac{\mu \mathrm{}\left(14\right)\mathrm{}}{\mu \mathrm{}\left(15\right)\mathrm{}}=1.4257641\mathrm{}\pm 0.0000010$. The true linewidths (between points of maximum slope) have been determined to be 24±4 cps for ${\mathrm{N}}^{14}$ and <4 cps for ${\mathrm{N}}^{15}$.
