Abstract
Observations were made on some phases of the circulation of 5 [male] dogs with ex-perimental mitral stenosis. The cardiac output of 4 of these animals was normal, being 104-230 cc. per kgm. per min.; av. 171 cc. The output of the 5th animal was distinctly elevated, being 323 cc. per kgm. per min. The basal pulse rate was increased in 4 instances and normal in the 5th. The blood pressure was elevated in only 1 case. An increase in the percentage of red blood cells occurred at the expense of the plasma. The size of the heart as determined by the roentgen shadow showed a progressive enlargement in all 5 dogs. No significant changes were observed in the electrocardiographic tracings. Observations on the control animal showed no variations from the normal. This publication has 2 references indexed in Scilit:
