Correlation of the Identity of Bile and Cecal Vibrios from the Same Field Cases of Avian Vibrionic Hepatitis

Abstract
Bile and cecal vibrio isolated from the same bird were shown to be very similar in somatic antigen structure. They have similar reactions in certain selected biochemical tests. Results of comparative virulence experiments of bile and cecal vibrio isolates showed that some strains are more virulent than others. Examination of a strained cecal smear for vibrio is a useful aid in the diagnosis of avian vibrionic hepatitis. It is considered that the disease is transmitted by fecal contamination.
