Abstract
Error bounds are calculated for transport properties that do not have the form − (f, L−1f) , where L is the linearized semiclassical Boltzmann collision operator. The error bound generated depends on error bounds estimated for two other gas properties that do have this form. The method is illustrated for the thermal diffusion ratio of a gas mixture of mechanically similar rigid spheres and for the perturbation of the rate of change of temperature in a gas of reacting rigid sphere molecules. In the Appendix a rederivation is given of some general relations between diffusive and thermal fluxes.
