Abstract
WE have two policies concerned with the prior release of material being considered or scheduled for publication by the Journal: a news embargo and the so-called Ingelfinger Rule. Both policies are designed primarily to serve the interests of our readers, who are practitioners and medical investigators, but we think they benefit the public as well. The embargo is an agreement between us and representatives of the media on the timing of news stories about articles soon to appear in the Journal. It was the subject of a recent editorial.1 The Ingelfinger Rule is an understanding with authors, summarized in . . .Keywords
