Abstract
The possibility of obtaining a self-consistent solution for the single-particle Green's function in random binary alloys within the coherent potential approximation is considered. It is shown that the present approach leads to a first-principles approximate definition of the matrix elements of the single-particle Hamiltonian even in the tight-binding case, obtaining a physical ground for such an approach. Keywords
