Quadrupole Antishielding Factors of Ions

Abstract
Values of the quadrupole antishielding factor γ have been obtained for the following ions: Y3+, In3+, Bi3+, and Am2+, using the method of direct solution of the inhomogeneous Schrödinger equation for the perturbed wave functions. The wave functions v1 (nds) and the resulting terms γ(nds) have been calculated for the case of Cu+3ds, Ag+4ds, and Bi3+5ds. We have also obtained the hexadecapole antishielding factor η for the In3+ ion. Values of the lattice sums for 4Vz4 pertaining to the nuclear hexadecapole interaction (V=crystalpotential) have been determined for the following types of cubic lattice: simple cubic, NaCl structure, body-centered cubic, and face-centered cubic.
