LATS Production by Lymphocyte Culture in Patients with Graves' Disease

Abstract
Peripheral lymphocytes obtained from patients with Graves' disease were cultured with phytohemagglutinin (PHA), and long-acting thyroid stimulator (LATS)-like activity was detected in the culture medium. This activity was identified as LATS by the following findings: 1) The time response curve and the dose response curve of the activity were similar to those of LATS, when various doses of a culture medium were assayed. 2) The greatest portion of the activity was found in the γG globulin fraction which was separated by DEAE-Sephadex column chromatography. 3) The activity was mostly neutralized with anti-γG globulin serum.
