The determination of 2:3-diketo-l-gulonic acid

Abstract

Conditions are described under which 2:3-diketo-l-gulonic acid can be determined directly. This compound gives with 2:4 dinitrophenyl-hydrazine a red derivative or derivatives which on solution in NaOH produce an intensely red color. This reaction forms the foundation on which the procedure is based.
