Epidemiology and Prevention of Nursery-Derived Staphylococcal Disease

Abstract
SUBSTANTIAL knowledge of the epidemiology of staphylococcal disease among newborn infants and their mothers was gained from earlier investigations in Seattle1 , 2 and elsewhere.3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 It had been determined that hospital nurseries were the usual source of infection for infants, and that infected, nursing infants were the usual source of maternal infection.
