Nucleon Isobar Excitation inπ±pScattering

Abstract

The major differences in the differential cross sections for $\pi p\to \pi p$, $\pi p\to \pi N^{*}\mathrm{}\left(1.4\right)\mathrm{}$ and $\pi p\to \pi N^{*}\mathrm{}\left(1.69\right)\mathrm{}$ are explained on the basis of composite structure for the nucleon and its isobars.
