Fetal Haemoglobin in Acquired Aplastic Anaemia

Abstract

An increased amount of fetal hemoglobin in 8 of 10 patients with acquired aplastic anemia is reported. In three patients, the onset of pancytopenia preceded the increase in alkali resistant hemoglobin. In 2 patients, although the clinical and hematologic improvement was nearly complete, the increase of fetal hemoglobin persisted.
