Abstract
Simultaneous administration of either 17-ethyl-19-nortestosterone or testosterone propionate and 1.5 [mu]g of estrone blocked the vaginal leukocyte response to estrogen. Depression of leukocytes was accompanied by keratinization of epithelial cells when estrogens were administered alone. The testoids, at the dosage combinations employed, blocked the mechanism by which leukocytes are prevented from migrating into the vagina, whereas the changes leading to epithelial keratinization remained largely unaffected. 17-ethyl-l9-nortestosterone appeared to have a greater activity in blocking keratinization changes than did testosterone propionate.
