Abstract
Urinary estrogens and the 17-ketosteroids were detd. after injecting estrone or estradiol into 4 men with hepatic cirrhosis. Total excretion values in 3 subjects ranged from 83-86% of the injected dose. The bulk of the estrogen was in combined form, the free fraction constituting 1-14% in these 3 [male][male]. The 4th subject excreted mainly free estrogen presumably because liver failure was more complete than in the other cases. There was a suggestion of threshold mechanism in the excretion of high concs. of circulating estrogens in 2 subjects. The significance of the 17-keto-steroid values obtained is not apparent at this time [long dash]Auth. This publication has 5 references indexed in Scilit:
