Abstract
In 30 of 35 patients with thyrotoxicosis treated with thiouracil for periods of 2-16 mos., the results were favorable as indicated by a relief of the thyrotoxic symptoms, an increase of body wt. and blood cholesterol and a reduction of the organic I of the blood. In 5 cases a remission of the thyrotoxicosis was maintained for as long as 6 mos. following cessation of the treatment. Thiouracil did not alter the size of the thyroid gland or consistently affect the degree of exophthalmos. One patient developed a severe febrile reaction and leukopenia. This publication has 3 references indexed in Scilit:
