Species Specificity of FSH and LH as Determined by Radioimmunoassay.

Abstract
Partially purified preparations or crude extracts from ovine, bovine, equine, porcine, canine, rat, monkey (Rhesus and Cynomolgus), mouse, rabbit, hamster, frog and turtle pituitary glands were tested for biologic activity in the rat and immunologic cross-reactivity with human LH [luteinizing hormone] and FSH [follicle-stimulating hormone]. Immunologic cross-reactivity was tested in radioimmunoassay systems. No significant immunologic cross-reaction was found between LH and FSH of these species and their human counterparts. Similarly, no cross-reactivity was found between pregnant mare serum gonadotropin and human LH or FSH.
