Abstract
As the simplest binary system in which excitations as well as atomic transport can be studied, the theory of isotopic mixtures is developed in two directions: (i) Simple, though approximate, models are set up, to obtain a picture of the partial dynamical structure factors over a substantial region of the (q, omega ) plane. (ii) A careful study is made of the diffusion limit in the case of small mass differences. Keywords
