Abstract
"The literature cited in this review has shown that localized tissue response to the sex hormones can be elicited by the direct application of these compounds to some of the body surfaces and internal organs" in man and other animals. Systemic absorption is apt to accompany the desired local effect. Hence, local therapy with either androgens or estrogens should be undertaken only with the same cautious regard to the possibility of cancer that would be observed in other modes of admn. Keywords
