Magnetic Moment of 72-DayCo58by Paramagnetic Resonance

Abstract

The microwave paramagnetic resonance hyperfine structure of 72-day ${\mathrm{Co}}^{58}$ has been observed at 20°K and 3-cm wavelength in a single crystal of (Zn,Co)${\mathrm{K}}_2$ ${\left(\mathrm{S}{\mathrm{O}}_4\right)}_2$·6${\mathrm{D}}_2$O. From the spacing of the hfs lines relative to those of ${\mathrm{Co}}^{59}$, we find for the magnetic moment $\left|\mu \right({\mathrm{Co}}^{58}\left)\right|=4.052\mathrm{}\pm 0.011$ nm, neglecting hfs anomalies. The pattern of lines is consistent with the previously known spin $I=2\mathrm{}$.
