Abstract
175Yb has been oriented in Au and Ag at very low temperature. From the measured anisotropy of the 283 keV gamma rays of Au175Yb, the nuclear dipole moment of 175Yb is deduced. The value found for this moment is much greater than the value quoted previously by Grace et al. However, it is shown that a reanalysis of their experimental data gives a result very similar to the authors. Also the electric quadrupole moment of this nucleus is deduced. This publication has 10 references indexed in Scilit:
