Über den Nachweis von d- und l-Phenylalanin in biologischen Flüssigkeiten.

Abstract
To 1 ml. liquid (pH 8) to be tested, 1 ml. of a heavy suspension of Bacillus proteus (pH 8) was added and let stand at room temp, for 1/2-hr. with access of air. An inclined tube was convenient. Protein was precipitated with (NH4)2SO4; in the nitrate a green color was produced by addition of iron ammonium alum reagent if 1-phenylalanine was present. For detection of d-phenylalanine, a suspension of rat kidney was used instead of B. proteus in the above method.
