Hexacovalent Bond Orbitals. IV

Abstract

Six equivalent bond orbitals of D₃ symmetry are set up. Application of the orthogonality and normalization conditions leads to solutions when the composition is sⁿp^1+2md^5−n−2m. The coefficients in the angular wave functions are expressed in terms of four parameters. The trigonal prism orbitals and the trigonal antiprism orbitals previously discussed can be obtained on assigning values to some of the parameters.
