The Relationship of Agglutinogen to Other Antigens of Bordetella Pertussis

Abstract
Purified Bordetella pertussis agglutinogen has been prepared from supernatants of sonically disrupted cells by precipitation with sodium sulfate. The agglutinogen produced a single band of precipitation in the agar diffusion test and was found to give rise to the production of agglutinins in mice as well as rabbits. This antigen was shown to be different from the heat stable and heat labile toxins, the histamine sensitizing substance, the hemagglutinin, and the protective antigen of B. pertussis.
