Abstract
Abstract: S⊘vik, N. & Mæland, A. Flem 1986. Children with Motor Problems (Clumsy Children). Scandinavian Journal of Educational Research 30, 39‐53. The findings of a study on 19 clumsy children are given. Gubbay's Test of Motor Proficiency and a battery of achievement tests were used in screening every clumsy child from a sample of 331 third‐graders. The incidence of clumsiness was found to be 5.7. Teachers' ratings of clumsiness had low correlation with criteria of clumsiness derived from the performance tests. The frequency of learning disability among the clumsy students, which was defined in accordance with low scores on achievement tests and teachers' ratings, was high. A battery of diagnostic tests employed on clumsy students and a comparable group of Ss gave further information on the phenomenon of clumsiness.
