Theoretical bccfcc Transitions in Metals via Bifurcations under Uniaxial Load

Abstract
Pseudopotential models are used to study large strain, axial loading of the alkali metals. Various bcc fcc transitions are found to be associated with bifurcations from primary to secondary branch paths, under strict uniaxial load. Theoretically, other systems (e.g., the β-brasses) are expected to behave similarly.
