Abstract
The infrared spectrum of nitrosyl cyanide has been recorded in the gas phase between 4000 and 250 cm−1. Four vibrational fundamentals have been located. Assignments of the five in−plane and one out−of−plane fundamentals have been made on the basis of observed and calculated vibration−rotation bond contours and on the basis of a normal coordinate analysis. Force constants have been calculated for all of the fundamentals and an estimate of the purity of the normal modes has been made. Thermodynamic properties of nitrosyl cyanide have been calculated for several temperatures. Keywords
