Abstract
Dextran inhibits threone activity, and fractions of low molecular weight are more effective in this respect than fractions of high molecular weight. Other poly-saccharides may also function as inhibitors of threone activity. A small amount of thrombin overcomes the inhibition with dextran provided it is added to prothrombin activation mixtures at the beginning of the interactions. It seems likely that a derivative of prothrombin does not form when the activation of prothrombin is inhibited with dextran. Keywords
