Fatal Diabetic Glomerulosclerosis after Total Pancreatectomy

Abstract

THERE have been infrequent reports of the appearance of vascular lesions in diabetes secondary to gross pancreatic damage or removal. This is a follow-up report of a patient who had total pancreatectomy in 1949 for reticulum-cell sarcoma and who died fourteen years later of diabetic glomerulosclerosis.Case ReportIn October, 1949, total pancreatectomy was performed on a 29-year-old man with reticulum-cell sarcoma arising in the head of the pancreas and invading the duodenum.
